Free Immunization Education Resources for Nursing Students and Faculty Available!

By Kathryn Mulligan

The Association for Prevention Teaching and Research (APTR) has recently announced free immunization education resources for undergraduate nursing students. The resources were developed as a collaboration between the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD) and APTR. The purposes of these resources are to provide faculty with a simple way to incorporate immunization content into their curriculum, create consistent information for both faculty and students, and help prioritize content that should be included in undergraduate nursing education.

Topics covered include types of vaccines, immunization strategies, public health perspectives, and legal and ethical issues surrounding vaccinations among other topics. The resources developed include curriculum framework, fundamental case studies, simulation scenarios, and powerpoints. All of this is available for download for free as a PDF through www.IRUNursing.org
